Now that you have a bootable USB drive with Tails, you need to boot your computer from it. The exact steps to do this will vary depending on your computer’s manufacturer and model, but generally, you’ll need to do the following:
- Insert the USB drive into your computer’s USB port.
- Restart your computer.
- Press the key to enter the boot menu (usually F12, F10, or Esc).
- Select the USB drive from the list of boot devices.
- Press Enter to boot from the USB drive.
Start using Tails
Once you’ve successfully booted from the USB drive, you’ll be greeted with the Tails desktop. From here, you can start using Tails as you would any other operating system. Tails comes with several pre-installed applications, including the Tor Browser for anonymous web browsing, the Thunderbird email client, and the LibreOffice suite for office productivity.
