How to Secure LDAP Server with SSL/TLS on Ubuntu

Step 2: Configure LDAP server

After installing the LDAP server software, run the following command to begin the configuration process:

sudo dpkg-reconfigure slapd

You will be prompted to enter some information about your LDAP server. Follow the prompts and enter the required information. Here are some tips to help you answer the prompts:

  • When asked whether to use the DNS domain name as part of the base DN, answer “No”.
  • When asked for the organization name, enter your organization’s name.
  • When asked for the LDAP server’s domain name, enter your server’s domain name.

Once you have entered all the required information, the LDAP server will be configured.
