Native NVMe Support in Windows 11: What’s Changing, What’s Faster, and What You Need to Know

⚠️ Important Warnings Before You Enable It

This driver is not fully supported on Windows 11 yet.

Reported issues include:

  • NVMe drives disappearing or showing twice
  • Disk management tools failing to detect volumes
  • Application crashes
  • No BypassIO support, causing performance issues in DirectStorage games
  • Incompatibility with some SSD controllers
  • Vendor drivers overriding the new NVMe path

Example:

  • Samsung 970 EVO Plus → Uses the new native NVMe driver
  • Crucial P3 Plus → Falls back to vendor driver (no change)

If system stability matters more than experimentation, wait.
